2025 Basketball Africa League Playoffs
The second day of the playoffs in Pretoria delivered thrilling basketball action. In the opening matchup, defending champions Petro de Luanda of Angola faced Rwanda’s APR. APR emerged victorious with a 75–57 win. Aliou Diarra shined with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Nuni Omot added 15 points and six rebounds. Petro de Luanda’s Patrick Gardner also made a notable impact, recording 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Later that evening, a seeding game pitted last year’s semifinalists, Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, against 2022 champions US Monastir of Tunisia. US Monastir clinched the win, spearheaded by Babacar Sane who scored 22 points, and Patrick Hardy Jr., who contributed 17 points along with nine assists. Despite a strong effort from Raphael Putney, who scored 28 points for Rivers Hoopers, his team was unable to turn the tide.
Quarterfinal Matchups Scheduled: The upcoming slate includes APR versus Rivers Hoopers and US Monastir against Petro de Luanda on Monday. Additionally, high-stakes quarterfinal contests are set for tomorrow when Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli meets Cape Verde’s Kriol Star at 4 p.m., followed by Egypt’s Al Ittihad taking on Morocco’s FUS Rabat at 7 p.m. CAT.
