Agriculture Ministry Launches Prayer and Fasting Initiative Against Food Insecurity

Agriculture Ministry Organizes Spiritual Sessions to Address Food Insecurity

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has circulated a memo urging all employees to take part in a series of prayer and fasting sessions. The initiative is intended to invoke divine guidance for protection and progress in national development, as part of efforts to overcome the country’s ongoing food insecurity challenges.

The memorandum, dated June 11, 2025, was formally issued by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., and shared on an official social platform. It calls on all directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and relevant desk officers, as well as other staff members, to attend these solemn gatherings.

The sessions, themed “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development,” are set to be held at Conference Hall “B” of the ministry’s headquarters in Area 11, Abuja. They are scheduled from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM on June 16, 23, and 30, 2025, with staff members asked to observe a fast on each of these days.

An anonymous source within the ministry highlighted the seriousness of the situation, noting that although various policies and programs are underway, spiritual support is seen as equally vital. “We face substantial challenges in reaching our food security goals. While our initiatives are critical, we believe that divine intervention is necessary to ensure that every Nigerian has access to nutritious and ample food,” the source explained.
