Judge Withdraws from Hearing on Chaitanyananda Saraswati’s Bail Appeal

Judge Recuses Himself in Bail Hearing of Self-Styled Godman

A judge stepped aside from hearing the bail plea of self-proclaimed godman Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is accused of sexually assaulting 17 female students at a private management institute in New Delhi. The accused is currently in judicial custody.

Additional Sessions Judge Atul Ahlawat recused himself from the bail proceedings, and the case has now been reassigned to a different judge at the Patiala House district courts. Court sources indicate that the application is expected to be reviewed on the following day.

Earlier, on October 8, a magistrate issued an interim order granting the accused certain allowances. This order permits him to receive food without onions and garlic, as well as access to spectacles and necessary medications.
