Tulsi Gabbard Fires Back After Donald Trump’s Dispute Over Her Iran Assessment

Tulsi Gabbard Reacts to Trump’s Disagreement Over Her Iran Assessment

Tulsi Gabbard has criticized the media for allegedly distorting the remarks made by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Her comments come in the wake of President Donald Trump’s assertion that the DNI was “wrong” in her evaluation.

Gabbard maintains that her March testimony on Capitol Hill—where she noted that Iran is not actively pursuing nuclear weapons and emphasized that the nation’s top leader has not endorsed such a program—has been taken out of context. She accused the media of purposefully misinterpreting her words in order to foster division, adding that the portrayal of her testimony is misleading.

According to Gabbard, U.S. intelligence estimates suggest that if Iran decided to complete its nuclear program, a working weapon could be produced in a matter of weeks or months. However, she agrees with Trump’s stance that this scenario is unlikely to unfold.

The White House rapid response team backed Gabbard’s position, calling on the media to cease what they described as efforts to skew the facts of her testimony. In response to questions about intelligence on Iran’s nuclear endeavors, Trump dismissed the DNI’s assessment by asserting that if there is no evidence of Iran actively developing a nuclear weapon, then his intelligence community must be mistaken. When it was pointed out that the DNI was the source of the claims, the president simply stated, “She’s wrong.”

Meanwhile, the issue has been further complicated by renewed discussions over Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Gabbard’s earlier testimony emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program does not have the approval of its supreme leader. Recent events have led some to suggest that Iran was nearing a critical stage in its nuclear development before recent regional conflicts escalated tensions, a point that has prompted consideration of possible military actions.

The controversy continues to unfold as political leaders debate how to interpret the intelligence surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, with Gabbard standing firmly by her earlier statements while calling on the media to report the facts accurately.
