Gwadar Delegation Visits Zhengzhou to Boost Agricultural Cooperation

A ten-member, high-level agricultural delegation from Gwadar wrapped up a highly productive five-day visit to Zhengzhou in Henan Province, China, concluding on June 20, 2025. The trip underscored efforts to strengthen ties in agriculture, education, and ecological development between Pakistan and China.

The team, made up of industry experts and enterprise representatives, participated in a series of in-depth discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Their itinerary began at the Zhengzhou Garden Expo, where they toured a modern tissue culture laboratory and nursery facility. Here, they observed innovative plant propagation methods and state-of-the-art nursery management techniques.

Expanding the scope beyond agriculture, the delegation also explored educational cooperation opportunities. Visits to local primary and secondary schools in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone highlighted prospects for student and faculty exchanges, as well as the integration of ecological farming practices into school curricula.

At the Henan Academy of Sciences, members engaged in detailed technical discussions with researchers at the Laser Manufacturing Research Institute. The talks focused on how laser technology could be applied to enhance Gwadar’s agricultural processes. A subsequent stop at a garlic planting center in Zhongmu County provided insights into high-yield cultivation practices and modern post-harvest processing methods that could be adapted locally.

A major milestone was reached at Henan Agricultural University with the signing of a pioneering Sino-Pak Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement. This initiative will facilitate joint research projects and promote the comprehensive utilization of Paulownia and other plant species, paving the way for future technology transfers.

The visit also included cultural experiences, such as a tour of the renowned Shaolin Temple, that helped the delegation appreciate China’s rich heritage. Business discussions with representatives from Yulin Holding further explored potential investment projects, promising to reinforce Gwadar’s transformation into a dynamic agricultural hub.

Analysts believe that such collaborations under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will be instrumental in driving Gwadar’s agricultural development and enhancing food security across the region. Members of the delegation expressed optimism that the insights gained during the visit would significantly boost local agricultural productivity and expand export opportunities.
