Gwadar Delegation Tours Zhengzhou to Strengthen Agricultural Collaboration

Gwadar Delegation Visits Zhengzhou to Bolster Agricultural Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: A ten-member high-level agricultural team from Gwadar wrapped up a productive five-day visit to Zhengzhou in Henan Province, China, from June 16 to 20. This trip marked a significant step in strengthening ties in agriculture, education, and ecological development between Pakistan and China.

The delegation, which included agricultural experts and representatives from various enterprises, engaged in extensive knowledge sharing and explored multiple prospects for cooperation. Their schedule featured a visit to a state-of-the-art tissue culture laboratory and nursery facility at the Zhengzhou Garden Expo, where they observed advanced techniques in plant propagation and efficient nursery management.

Educational collaboration was another key aspect of the visit. The team toured several primary and secondary schools within the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone to consider potential student and faculty exchange programs. They were particularly impressed by China’s successful integration of ecological farming principles into school curricula.

At the Henan Academy of Sciences, the delegates participated in in-depth technical discussions at the Laser Manufacturing Research Institute. These talks focused on exploring the application of innovative laser technology to boost agricultural productivity in Gwadar. A subsequent visit to Zhongmu County’s garlic plantation further provided insights into high-yield cultivation practices and modern post-harvest processing methods.

A major milestone was reached at Henan Agricultural University with the signing of a landmark scientific and technological cooperation agreement. This pact, centered on the introduction and optimal use of Paulownia and other plant species, paves the way for joint research initiatives and technology transfers between the two sides.

The itinerary also included a cultural immersion at the renowned Shaolin Temple and discussions with local business leaders during a meeting with an investment firm, where potential projects and opportunities were explored. Experts believe that these exchanges, under the broader framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, will play a vital role in establishing Gwadar as a thriving agricultural hub and in enhancing regional food security.

One delegation member expressed optimism about applying the insights and advanced techniques learned during the visit to boost Gwadar’s agricultural productivity and exports. The knowledge gained is expected to contribute significantly to the region’s economic and developmental goals.
