Fire Erupts at Jerusalem Synagogue of Former Chief Rabbi

Fire Engulfs Synagogue of Former Chief Rabbi in Jerusalem

Early Sunday morning, emergency services were dispatched to a synagogue in the Sanhedria neighborhood of Jerusalem after a fire erupted at the site. Authorities confirmed that the building is associated with Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, who held the position of Sephardi chief rabbi from 2013 to 2024.

Before the fire was reported, local police received calls regarding vandalism in the area, including a cross that had been crudely graffiti-ed onto a nearby house door. Both the police and the district forensic unit are currently investigating this incident.

The blaze has since been contained, and officials reported that there were no injuries. Further details and updates are expected as the investigation continues.
