Judge Withdraws from Hearing Bail Plea by Self-Proclaimed Godman Chaitanyananda Saraswati

Judge Withdraws from Self-Styled Godman’s Bail Hearing

On October 9, 2025, a judge stepped aside from reviewing the bail plea of self-styled godman Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is in judicial custody. He faces allegations of sexually assaulting 17 female students at a private management institute in New Delhi.

Case Details and Judicial Developments

The matter was originally handled by Additional Sessions Judge Atul Ahlawat, who recused himself from the case. As a result, the case has now been reassigned to another judge at the Patiala House district courts. Court sources indicated that the bail application is expected to be addressed on October 10, 2025.

Interim Order on Dietary and Medical Requirements

Earlier on October 8, 2025, a magisterial court issued an interim order in favor of Mr. Saraswati. The order permits him to avail certain privileges including a diet free of onions and garlic, as well as access to spectacles and essential medicines.
