The iconic Mount Sinai stands as a beacon for believers across these traditions. It is forever linked with the Exodus story—when Moses led his people from bondage—and the celebrated miracle of the splitting of the Red Sea.

A Conversation with the Divine

In the southern reaches of Sinai, the peak known as Gabal Musa, or “Mountain of Moses,” holds profound significance for Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike. Centuries ago, early Coptic Christians established a modest church on this very mount, marking the traditionally held site where God is believed to have addressed Moses through the burning bush. This sacred encounter is also recounted in Islamic tradition.

Over time, this revered spot evolved into a historic monastery widely respected as one of the holiest places on Earth. Despite facing the incursions of desert raiders over many generations, the sanctuary has endured, remaining inviolate even amid periods of conflict due in part to its association with one of Islam’s paramount prophets.
