Ministry of Agriculture Clarifies Food Security Initiatives
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is determined to provide Nigerians with nutritious and affordable food. In response to a leaked memo regarding a staff prayer session, the Ministry clarified that the event was not devised as an official government strategy for addressing agricultural challenges. Instead, it was organized by the Human Resources Department as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of its employees. Similar to monthly aerobic sessions, gym access, and regular health check-ups, the prayer meeting is intended solely for staff well-being.
Government Efforts to Ensure Food and Nutrition Security
In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministry is actively striving to secure food and nutrition for the country. The government continues to implement various measures including the delivery of over one thousand tractors aimed at aiding farmers, as well as the commissioning of the commercialization phase under the guidance of President Tinubu.
Additional Support Measures for Farmers
As part of its broader strategy to reduce production costs and uplift the agricultural sector, the administration has distributed more than two million bags of fertilizers to farmers. These efforts not only help lower the expenses of production but also strengthen cooperative societies and reinforce their role in driving economic development.
